This photo is second in the series of two! Photographer Delta Whisky – The Old Folkie tells us about this March 9, 2010 image: There isn’t much to add, as you say it’s a follow up to the original. It was taken on a Nikon D90 with a Nikon 18mm-105mm lens. Fill in flash from the built in flash unit was used, stopped down by EV -1.3 so it wouldn’t overwhelm the background.

Photographer mizjane225 tells us about this March 8, 2010 image: The photo was taken in the Skagit Valley just west of Mt. Vernon, Washington one morning last week. The valley is famous for huge fields of bulbs both daffodils and tulips. The flowers are grown by commercial bulb farmers. These photos on my stream were taken in the early morning when ground fog was still present. In this photo the ground fog blocked out any detail in the background therefore allowing for a very simple picture of just daffodils.

Photographer Zoe (HPAD) tells us about this March 5, 2010 image: The photo was taken in Wye which is a village in Kent in the UK. I don’t know a lot about the daffodils themselves as they are in a garden that I pass on the way to the doctors. I spotted these daffodils trying to emerge last week, they have sprouted quite a bit since then. The light was low and shiny behind them, bokeh heaven! I took the photo to cheer myself up as there was a lovely light behind the daffodils and they evoke such a lovely image of spring finally coming.
Zoe, this cheers us all up, thanks for sharing.

Well, the snow is gone except for the piles in the parking lots. Here is what photographer OriginalPsyn tells us about this March 1, 2010 image: I don’t really know what kind of daffodils these are. They where here already when we moved in. These actually grow right by my back door there are 3 or 4 different types in that patch. They are pretty hardy. One year they were about to bloom then we had a blizzard. As soon as the snow melted they bloomed. This patch always a welcome sight at the end of winter. The snow melts here first and they are alway ready to spread their love.

Photographer pictureted tells us about this February 26, 2010 image: This shot was taken on the first Friday of Filoli’s Daffodil extravaganza. I’m lucky to live nearby so I could catch “the” hour of sunshine that day. I love the textures, shapes and rhythms, as well as the colors.

In our second of the two-part series, we post this February 27, 2010 image. Photographer roseannadana tells us: The area the fields were taken in has a zip code of 98273 for Mount Vernon, Washington. The fields are located on Best Road near Christianson’s Nursery. I was attending a workshop at LaConner Flats and left early so I could take pictures of the fields.
It was a beautiful grey rainy day and the lighting on the yellow fields was gorgeous! I shot it with my Canon Rebel XTi at 1/125; f5.6 and ISO 200 with my 17-55 wide angle lens. This was taken at 4:01p.m.
The surrounding area is a hub for tourists and the Tulip Festival follows here in a little over 2 weeks. Tourists come from all over the world to the area of La Conner, Anacortes and Mt. Vernon to see the Daffodils and primarily the Tulips of Skagit County, WA.
“Everything” here bloomed early – Spring came very early. We could still get a freeze here in March.

We love this photo. It makes a great first of two series with our next post by the same photographer, roseannadana. This image was taken on Februrary 14, 2010, and roseannadana tells us: This lone daffodil I captured in Mount Vernon, Skagit County, Washington. The harvesters had arrived to top the daffodils, I expect to use as cut flowers. It was the first daffodil I saw in bloom in the fields in our area.

Photographer Luvin’ the light tells us about this February 28, 2010 image: The little town called Murphys is in the California Sierra Nevada Foothills, famous for the California Gold Rush. The Ironstone Winery, in Murphys, holds a festival every March called Daffodil Days. They have thousands of daffodils planted on the grounds, some lovely displays in pots and a Daffodil plant show and contest.
It’s a big event and people come from all over Northern California to visit it every year.
Note from the editor: See information about the Ironstone Daffodil Days March 12 – 14, 2010 here. The American Daffodil Society National Show and Convention is being held at Ironstone this year from March 11 – 14, 2010.

Photographer Einsteinophile tells us about this March 10, 2010 image of foggy daffodils: The picture was taken at the main campus of College of the Redwoods, a community college district that serves Mendocino, Humboldt, and Del Norte counties in Northern California. This one is located just south of Eureka, CA. Daffodils grow like crazy here! The school and a lot of other places are just covered with them this time of year. It really does a lot to brighten things up, because we are right on the ocean, and so we don’t get to see the sun much from October until about July. I took this photo when I realized that you could see the redwoods and the fog coming off of them, and thought the dark background would make a great contrast to the bright yellow flowers.

Photographer Dirt Road Cowboy tells us about this February 28, 2010 image: Daffodils at one time must have been the most common “exotic” flower in the South, as they are commonly found around old homesites. I look forward each year to seeking them out. The people are long gone from this place, but the daffodils persist, thrive even. I’m unsure as to the variety, but this was made just outside Pitts, Wilcox County, Georgia. Late February is when they first start appearing…

Photographer LANE5530 tells us about this March 3, 2010 image: I took this somewhere between Drain and Reedsport, Oregon. I travel for my job quite a bit and always take my camera along. This scene seemed surreal to me. I remember driving by and after about a mile I just couldn’t keep on going until I went back and took this picture.

Photographer corrada2000 tells us about this February 27, 2010 image: The picture was taken in my garden in Neu-Ulm / Bavaria / Germany. As we live near the Swabian Mountains and just about an hour’s drive from the Alps, daffodils and flowers in general bloom rather late. The daffodils here are the common yellow kind, nothing special.
