Daffodils and Oaks at Morton Arboretum

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

, originally uploaded by baldwinm16.

Photographer baldwinm16 tells us about this April 19, 2009 photo: That was taken at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL. The Daffodil Glade is a very popular spot there in the spring, with thousands of daffodils blooming beneath giant oak trees. On this particular day, it had been raining for most of the morning, but then it let up for a couple hours; just enough time to get a few images with the colors saturated by the moisture.

Here is another photo taken at the same time.

Hercules and Daffodils at Chirk Castle, England

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Hercules at the top of the hill at Chirk Castle, originally uploaded by nikond90fan.

Photographer nikond90fan tells us about this stunning (and strong!) photo: It was taken on Bank Holiday Monday 13th April at Chirk Castle, Chirk, Wrexham, a magnificient 700 year old marcher fortress built by King Edward I. Owned by the National Trust. The property is also notable for its gardens, with clipped yew hedges, herbaceous borders, rock gardens and terraces and surrounded by 18th century parkland and well worth a visit if you are in the area. There are hundreds of daffodils in the grounds.

Daffodils at Pike Place, Seattle

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Daffodils at Pike Place, originally uploaded by thebermans.

Photographer thebermans tells us about this April 5, 2009 photo: It was taken at Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington. The market rooftops are lined with daffodils in the spring.

We are excited to find this image because it is an artistically interesting and terrific composition of the daffodils at Pike Place Market (a challenging setup for daffodils photo composition).
