Daffodils As Far As You Can See in Gladewater, Texas

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Daffodils As Far As You Can See, originally uploaded by snowwhite2115.

Photographer snowwhite2115 tells us about this March 14, 2010 image: It was taken at Ms. Lee’s Daffodil Garden just outside of Gladewater, Texas. I’ve enclosed the link if you would like some more info: www.daffodilgarden.com/daffodils_home.htm

It is a 4 mile drive through the daffodil gardens with several spots to pull over and take photos. It is free to the public and definitely worth the trip.

Here is information about the Daffodil Garden, from our website Daffodil Festivals Fields and Gardens 2010.

Spring is Here! at the Dallas Arboretum

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Spring is Here!, originally uploaded by Sienna62.

Photographer Sienna62 tells us about this March 14, 2010 image: This picture was taken during the “Dallas Blooms” festival at the Dallas Arboretum. In the early weeks of the festival which is when this picture was taken, daffodils and hycacinth rule the garden in quantities that leave you speechless. As the days of the festival go by tulips and azalea lead the pack and bloom in a crescendo of color. It is quite a sight to see.

Daffodil and Snow in Keller, Texas

Is Spring Really Around the Corner?, originally uploaded by Sienna62.

Photographer Sienna62 tells us about this wintry image taken on February 11, 2010: This was taken in Keller, Texas in my front yard after a historic snow fall. We don’t usually get much snow around here, and when we do it is usually an inch or less. We got over a foot of snow during this storm. I went outside to take pictures of snow and was shocked to find these daffodils blooming in the snow!

First Daffodils in Dallas

rebirth?, originally uploaded by jypsygen.

Who would ever guess that daffodils and bricks make for such a cool composition? We love the light on the bricks, and the intimacy of the daffodils and the middle brick.

The photographer Jen R tells us: Yes, this is our yard; We just blew the mounds of fallen leaves off, and there they were. The flowers here always seem to think a little too early on that it’s time to come up, which isn’t strange considering the day after Christmas, Dallas hit a record high of 83. We don’t know how long these guys will last, though, since no one can predict the weather in Dallas: “If you don’t like the weather, just wait a couple of hours.” Barring any potential cold snaps, they should do well, since they are on the south side. Let’s hope they make it, so I might have a better photo to offer for your unique blog!

This photograph was taken on January 2, 2009.
