Photographer Deb Campbell reports on these new daffodils in East Tennessee: It was taken on 2/26/2009 in Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Church in the background is one of 3 still standing in the Cove. It is the Cades Cove Methodist Church. As you drive around the 11 mile loop road in the cove you will see sections of daffodils planted here and there. It is said that where you see these daffodils, a homestead once probably stood there, as the early settlers planted them around their cabins. As you probably know, these daffodils are often called jonquils or buttercups down here in the south.

Oh, and a snow report! We asked if the daffodils are now under snow. Here is the status from yesterday (March 4): There is no snow in the cove right now. I was up toward Gatlinburg earlier today and there was snow but melting quickly as it’s in the 50′s here today and will be 70 by Friday, I think.
