Photographer LIBRRIAN tells us about this March 1, 2009 image: I plan to take more shots as that particular blossom opens up. I have been following this plant since it came out of the ground. We have several different varieties in the garden and I am waiting to be surprised when it blooms.
I will figure out how to geotag this image, so you can see the exact co-ordinates. This plant is growing in the front garden of my co-op in Richmond, BC, on the west coast of Canada. The climate here is very mild in winter, however, this year we have had quite a lot of snow. The TV weatherman has forecast snow for Saturday, and if we get it, I will shoot that, too.

We followed up with a question about the backlighting, and here is what LIBBRIAN tells us: Yes, the sun is behind the bud, because I wanted to see how full the sepals were. Today, they are nearly full and the bud is beginning to swell, just a little.
