DSC_7567 A hint of spring amongst the daffodils, originally uploaded by Ewart Tearle.
Photographer Ewart Tearle writes to us: The pictures were taken in the same garden next to the footpath in Wheat Close, St Albans, England (not far from London) at 15:11 on 14 Feb 2009. It wasn’t my garden; I was going for a walk and saw the light on the daffs, and thought they made a nice picture. If I focused on a single bud, with the light behind, it would give that sense of something pending. The snow behind me was melting after a week of it, so the perky little daffs were a real treat.
You can see the EXIF data alongside the picture in my photostream. I use an 18-135mmDX lens on my Nikon D40X. I set the camera to aperture priority for those shots. The aperture was f/5.3 and the ASA was 200. The EXIF data say the speed of the shot was 1/1000.
