early daffodils, originally uploaded by potbic.
The photographer potbic tells us about this February 6, 2009 photo: Taken at Brackenhurst campus garden next to a pond. That’s just outside a town of Southwell in Nottinghamshire. The college is an agricultural college part of Nottingham Trent University. The daffodils could be native wild daffodils ( Narcissus pseudonarcissus ) there are some growing there but they could also be the garden cultivated variety which as you know there are hundreds. We have had a cold winter this year and a real snow for the first time in years and it is still snowing so I was surprised to see them trying to emerge. I will be keeping an eye on them to see if they fully flower or stay as they are.
