Signs of Spring in County Wexford, Ireland

Signs of Spring, originally uploaded by Snow_girl.

The photographer Snow_girl provides details about these signs of spring: It was taken in my lunch break on the 27th of January and I think these are the regular yellow daffodils that you see all over the British Isles.

The daffodils are outside my office near Gorey town, County Wexford, Ireland. County Wexford is known as the sunny South East and has the nicest weather in the country (though I suppose parts of Co. Kerry on the West coast has the full brunt of the gulf stream and so it’s very warm and mild, but it’s also very windy).

My office is currently a newly built house at the end of a long gravel laneway and daffodils grow all along the sides of the track. I’ll have to send you a picture once they all come out cause it’s lovely and it makes a lovely start to my work day!

I hope you do a Welsh special on St. Davids day (March 1st). It’s essentially Wales’s national day and everyone wears daffodils on their lapels since Wales’s national flower is the Daffodil!

Take a look at Snow_girl’s blog 76 Degrees South about a place lovely except for its absence of daffodils.
